About Blue Sapphire Books

Beverly founded Blue Sapphire Books in 2010 as a small, independent press to bring emerging traditions of contemplation and social mysticism—interspiritual, new monastic, via feminina—into the public sphere, and to readers interested in thoughtful theological reflection and deepening spiritual practice. Among our projects, we are working to bring into print Beverly’s unpublished works.

“The image of the blue sapphire appears in Exodus 24:10, and later in the writing of a fourth century Christian monk, Evagrius of Pontus, to describe the pure state of the mind transformed by prayer and contemplative practice. It is through the sapphire blue light of the mind that one comes to the place of God, in an endless, imageless intimacy with all of creation.”
